Topography (land level)
In hilly Ubud, slope affects views, drainage, retaining walls, engineering complexity, and total construction cost.
Topography means the physical shape and level of the land. In Ubud this matters a lot because many plots sit on slopes, ravines, ridges, or stepped terrain rather than flat suburban-style ground.
Steeper land can offer stronger views and better privacy, but it often requires retaining walls, drainage planning, geotechnical review, and more complex foundations. That can materially increase build cost and future maintenance.
When comparing plots, never compare only price per are. Compare usable building area, access, cut-and-fill needs, and engineering implications too.
