Terrazzo
A composite stone-and-cement material popular for cool, smooth surfaces on floors, tubs, and countertops in tropical villas.
Terrazzo is a composite finish made from chips of marble, quartz, or other stone set into a cementitious binder, then ground smooth.
In Bali interiors, terrazzo is popular because it feels cool underfoot, reads modern, and can be shaped into integrated sinks, bathtubs, benches, and floors with fewer grout lines than tile grids.
Quality depends on mix design, sealing, slip resistance in wet areas, and crack repair standards. If a listing highlights terrazzo, ask whether surfaces are honed for barefoot comfort and how hot-sun exposure is handled outdoors.
