Penestanan
An artist-focused village just west of central Ubud, loved for atmosphere and expat life but often limited to scooter or foot access.
Penestanan is one of Ubud’s best-known villages, just west of the center. It is famous for its artistic feel, quiet lanes, cafe culture, and strong expat presence.
The tradeoff is access: many homes are reached through narrow pedestrian or scooter paths rather than full car roads. That is part of the charm for some people and a deal-breaker for others.
If a listing says “Penestanan,” confirm the last-mile logistics, parking, and night-time walkability rather than assuming all parts of the village function the same way.
