Pajak (tax)

Property deals and rentals in Indonesia involve different taxes, including transfer taxes and income-based withholding on rental earnings.

Pajak simply means tax. In Bali real estate, buyers, sellers, and owners all face different tax obligations depending on the transaction.

Examples often discussed include BPHTB (a transfer tax generally associated with the buyer), PPh (income tax generally associated with the seller), and rental-income taxation such as 10% withholding in certain structures.

The exact setup depends on deal structure, ownership form, and advice from your notary or tax professional. Never assume “tax included” means all obligations disappeared.
